A CNN reporter has been suspended after posting a video of a police officer threatening her colleagues.
The video was posted on social media Monday and shows the officer being physically attacked and called a “racist.”
The police officer was identified as Officer D.J. Hurd.
CNN’s Jim Acosta reported on Twitter that the video showed Hurd being handcuffed and punched several times in the face and head by another officer.
Acosta later tweeted that the officer had been placed on paid administrative leave, according to a report from CNN.
Acord tweeted Monday that the incident took place in New York City.
The New York Police Department tweeted the following statement Monday night.
The NYPD takes all reports of violence against police officers seriously.
We take reports of misconduct seriously and are reviewing the situation.
Police officers must respect the rights of those they are sworn to protect.
We also will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate action if necessary.
CNN reached out to the NYPD for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
The station has not released a statement regarding the incident, but CNN did include a photo on its Facebook page of the injured officer.
“I hope you feel safe and free to report any threats you have received or any other concerns you may have,” CNN wrote.
“We do not condone any violence or threats of violence towards any of our employees or others, including members of our community.”
The NYPD said in a statement to CNN that officers must follow the law and protect the rights and safety of the public.
It said it is investigating the video and will take any appropriate action to “maintain public safety.”
The incident comes at a time of heightened tensions between law enforcement and minorities across the country.
Trump has repeatedly called for increased police violence against black and Latino communities and has vowed to crack down on sanctuary cities that shield illegal immigrants.
On Sunday, Trump called for the creation of a “sanctuary city” that will not allow police to arrest and detain immigrants for a criminal offense.
“Our country has a problem with sanctuary cities,” Trump said during a campaign rally in Phoenix.
“They have a problem.
They have a lot of problems.”
